Catering Manager

Role Introduction

As a Catering Manager at Eton College, you will play a vital role in overseeing the catering services within our Boarding Houses, ensuring our boys receive nutritious, high-quality meals every day. You will support the Assistant Catering Director in managing the day-to-day operations of the Boarding House Catering Teams, leading and mentoring staff while maintaining excellent food quality and hygiene standards.

Beyond catering, this role offers the unique opportunity to be actively involved in the Boarding House community, whether through school events, sports, or creative productions.

Main Duties

  • Lead and manage the daily operations of the Boarding House catering teams
  • Ensure consistency in food quality and service standards across all Boarding Houses
  • Oversee food safety, allergen management, and hygiene compliance
  • Monitor and manage staff rotas, training, and performance reviews
  • Work closely with House Masters and Dames to enhance the nutritional well-being of students
  • Assist with budgeting, stock control, and financial reporting
  • Organise and support special catering events within the College
  • Commitment and promotion of equality, diversity and inclusion;
  • All positions at Eton are classed as ‘regulated activity’ as per the Keeping Children Safe in Education 2024 guidance, therefore a good understanding of safeguarding procedures is essential;
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, including but not limited to, completing safeguarding training as required, and ensuring any safeguarding updates issued by the College are read and understood;
  • Understand and comply with procedures and legislation relating to confidentiality.

The Ideal Candidate

What We Are Looking For:

  • Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 3 or higher)
  • Experience in high-volume catering and budget management
  • Knowledge of nutrition, allergen management, and special diets
  • Proven leadership and team management experience
  • Strong understanding of food safety and health & safety regulations
  • Experience working with young people in an educational or similar setting (desirable)
